Furniture Stock, Trailer Flooring, Shoring Timbers, Railroad Ties, Pallet Stock, Sawdust, and Slab Wood.

Gray's Sawmill produces Southern Hardwood lumber that grows from native species in the area. These species include, but are not limited to: Red Oak, White Oak, Burr Oak, Post Oak and other derivatives of the oak specie. We also have access to Hickory, Pecan, White Ash, Walnut, Aromatic Cedar, Hackberry, Sycamore, Cottonwood, Elm, Willow, and some Bois de Arc.

There are many species that result from cross pollination, such as Hard Elm, which is a cross between Cedar and Elm, or Bitter Pecan, a cross between Pecan and Hickory. There are many other species that we receive in this area, but are too numerous to mention.

Uses

  Furniture Stock:

From any of the hardwoods listed, we can cut Rough, Random Width furniture stock in common thicknesses from 4/4" to 12/4". This lumber is cut, and stacked with sticks between the layers to allow air to circulate, preventing molding, mildew, and sticking together. The primary species for furniture manufacturing are the Oaks, Pecan, and Ash.
  Trailer Flooring:
We can cut trailer flooring from 1" thick to 3" thick, from 4" to 12" in width, and from 8 to 16 feet long.
  Shoring Timbers:
Timbers can be cut up to 16" x 16" square, and up to 16 feet long. These timbers are commonly used for foundation purposes under Oil Rigs or other industrial applications where extremely heavy loads have to be supported.
  Railroad Ties:
Railroad ties are cut 7" x 9", and to the length needed by the railroad. Common cross ties are 9 feet, with switch ties being longer.
  Pallet Stock:
Pallet stock, or Cants, are 4" x 6", 4" x 8", 6" x 6", or 6" x 8", from 8 to 16 feet in length. We also have 1" x 4", and 1" X 6" in the same lengths. This product is usually sold to pallet manufactures that "resaw" the lumber into usable pieces to assemble pallets from.
  Sawdust:
Sawdust can be used for gardening, as an absorbent for animal / livestock pens or oil spills, or organic fuel for boilers.
  Slab Wood:
Slabs can be cut into firewood for home and shop heating, or processed into chips for mulch and landscaping.
