What We Do

Gray's Sawmill, Inc., takes raw saw timber and processes it into rough, green (lumber that is not dried), hardwood lumber. We purchase timber from independent loggers, and have no logging crews of our own. We only produce lumber from hardwoods that are native in the central North Texas and Southern Oklahoma region. Pine, Fir, and other softwoods are not available in our area.
Timber usually comes from farmers and ranchers that are about to lose timber due to the natural course changes of rivers and creeks, need additional pasture land, or need to thin wooded areas or forests to allow younger timber to grow, and remove the older, more disease prone timber. "Select" cutting is practiced, meaning that timber not big enough for saw logs is left to grow for future harvest and wildlife habitat. This process insures a natural "rotation" of the timber.
